'Suicide in the Trenches' is, in my opinion, one of the most haunting descriptions of war ever published, and I'm glad to see it used in a story like this one. Your descriptions of the war are chilling, and Evan's recovery period describes a soldier's feelings well - the line about wanting to return to the front because of duty and not the love of the fight is very telling. The twist of having it all be in Evan's mind at the end of it made the story even better. I thoroughly enjoyed this; thanks for sharing it!
