Hi, I'm Larian. I'm an LotR freak, swore I'd never get into another fandom, then found myself into Firefly/Serenity...I watched SG-1 on dvd, the first 8 seasons...then was told that I'd love SGA if I liked SG-1. So I watched season 1...was hooked and am now obsessed. Anyway, I've watched and re-watched seasons 1 and 2 many times. I noticed Lorne almost right away, I think...heh.


Why you like Lorne? He has muscles, that dry sarcastic with, short short hair. I hope they give him an expanded role in the next season(s)

Your favorite Lorne pairing? Lorne/Shep, but only because that's about all I've read. Pretty much wide open. (Okay, and just to be squeeish-squickish my real fave would be Lorne/ME) *hee*

Why? I think I haven't settled on a pairing yet because I can see Lorne with lots of people, het or slash. He's just a nice, wide open character, there for us to play with.

Who have you thought of, but haven’t read, want to read? Lorne/Cam Mitchell from SG-1. OH...and I know they never crossed paths on the show..but how about Lorne/Peter Grodin?

Do you a write? Written a fair bit in LotR, just starting in SGA.

Out of your favorite groups/communities… why are they your favorite? What do they continually do that makes them your favorite? What do you expect, want to see here? I've joined tons and tons of LJ comms and yahoo lists that feature SG-1 and/or SGA. Anyway, I'm still feeling them out, so I don't know which ones are 'best.' One thing I do like about a comm in firefly is they publish a newsletter weekly or so, listing all the fic, icons, art, news, etc about the specific pairing. (If I'm unclear, here's a link to the comm and one to one of the posts)

the_cortex does the same thing for the general firefly fandom.

I'm sure it takes a lot of time, (and I'm not volunteering! *hee*) but maybe the three mods could check different comms for lorne-slash centered fics, icons, etc.? and then post a little newsletter once a week or once a month or ..whatever?

Oh, and does any fic have to slashy? What if it includes Lorne, but the relationship isn't necessarily slash? Can it be more Gen fic-like? EDIT: Never mind, I saw the info again! Will be sure to label correctly!

My own question As I've said, I haven't written any SGA fics yet, and I'm asking here because my flist is made up of mostly lotr folks, though I'm converting as many as I can...as fast as I can.

How nuts am I for trying to write a Sheppard gets court-martialed fic for my first one? I've researched court martials, though I imagine military people will find me lacking there, but would anyone here mind if I posted ...or emailed the fic for you to read before I formally post it? I'll have Lorne in it, since I think it will include just about everyone from atlantis...I have a beta, but she usually reads for grammar and minor stuff, not really for characterization or too much plot.

Who’d best sandwich Lorne? I know this is a slash comm....but how about Ronon/Lorne/Teyla? Nope that works ;-) het within a threesome/moresome where Lorne is one of 2 guys qualifies.

For another great SGA community check out sga_newletter they list everything daily (new communities, gen, het slash McShep, Slash various, icons, vids, etc) Wish I had the time for that...as it is I've only had time because I had a few days off. Wed it'll be back to the daily grind.

Questions of posting fic...I'm pretty easy, I just really wanted to focus on the slash & allow various slash pairings. Definitely not a het or gen hater... just prefer to be Lorne slash focused. Links & recs posted are fantastic for ALL other genre Lorne fic. A cut link back your LJ if your fic is primarily gen would probably be best... and I'm sure {{because we ALL love him}} people will be clicking right on over to read ;-)

Btw, love lotr... though I'm more the 'special hell' ficcer with lotrips, so maybe not the same...Lorne's cute though huh? *bg*

Oh, thanks! I didn't know about the newsletter one. I like those....And yeah, I know they're time consuming, so totally understand if this comm steers away from that! I imagine it could get way out of hand before long.

I came into lotr via rps, but found elves and never went back. lol.

I don't know about a full fledged newsletter but I'm planning on bringing any recs back to the comm. I read a bit of fanfic when I can and alot of what I read is lorne centric.

I read when my job allows. Sometimes we are hours heavy and sometimes we are really slow. On the slow weeks, I sit home and read alot.
