October 5 Challenge: Lorne / Kavanagh --G
Title: A foreign thing.
Pairing: Lorne/Kavanagh
Word Count: 150
Rating: G
Summary: making music
Prompt: Oct 5th challenge-- ‘Lorne or his lover teaches the other one something new’.
This is done in ten-word style, each line is limited to ten words--and it's something I've come
to love doing, and should probably get out of the habit of :P
Leather, nylon, metal, oil--these are things Evan Lorne understands.
"follow the symbols, loosen up, your fingers are like iron."
Evan follows along as best he can, watching Cal's fingers.
Ivory, ebony, strings and warm wood. These things are foriegn.
Moreso than sunken cities and pulse weapons and interstellar ships.
Cal's smile is wide and glowing--even though the notes
fall dumbly from large, rough fingers unused to delicate work.
"it doesn't sound right--it's much nicer when you play."
But Cal presses nimble fingers into his shoulders--holding, soothing.
And somehow the notes flow easier, the symbols make sense.
"I wouldn't say you're a musical genius by any stretch"
Cal teases, fingers kneading at the base of Lorne's skull.
"but you can be taught, which is really quite special."
Lorne smiles where Cal can't see-because learning is easy
when you happen to have a crush on the teacher.
