If you look at Ronon and Lorne, Ronon would be intimidating.
If you look at, ack, McKay and Lorne, neither of them look intimidating. However I believe Lorne has something that isn't close to the surface. It would have to be in order for him to be a Major and Sheppard's second in command.
Take Ford. He looked like a young kid, however, I knew when it came to it, he could take charge and do what had to be done.
