Having watched the pilot of Blade and the third episode, I can now say - Kavan Smith isn't anywhere. More's the pity, because the show could really have used some help from a guy who could act. That's just my opinion. The series is a pitiful far cry from the movie. I wasn't impressed.

But to make up for it - I thought I'd post a few recs:

Always the quiet ones - by jo_zed_pee_em. I didn't expect to like this ficlet quite honestly. However, after reading it I noticed the author's music was listed as Johnny Cash's HURT. I reread the ficlet with that music going on in my head and discovered I loved it. Here's the link if you wanna give it a try:

Disco Fever - by sayafterme. This one is hot in many, many very wrong ways. There is line dancing, spandex, McKay(those two words should never be in the same sentence without many other negatives thrown in!), a disco ball, Sheppard and one VERY HAWT Major. Out of curiosity - how many of us are strictly Lorne fans and how many are Kavan Smith fans as well, also, I'm curious as to whether you found the actor first or found the actor through Lorne or simply adore Lorne and haven't investigated the actor.

I'm totally all about Major Lorne only. Same with all the other SGA characters. I like to keep my drooling contained within the fandom, so I rarely look for out of SGA stuff.

I find I differ from actor to actor. Like - I have no desire to see James Marsters as anything other than Spike, but I search around endlessly for more stuff with Kavan Smith. I watch everything Micheal Biehn does, but don't really care to see Adam Baldwin as anyone other than Jayne (although I loved him as Marcus Hamilton).

Mostly, it's weird to me to see the actors out of the fandom I find them in - and I don't always enjoy the performaces.

Thanks for answering, I'm always curious about how other folk see fandoms and actors.

The only fandom that I followed the actors was LotR. And even there, it was only a couple of them. I just don't see the attraction of Orlando Bloom without a long blond wig. *grin*...Oh, Michael Bienh!! I've watched and rewatched Navy Seals so many times, the tape broke.

I'm still more a Lorne fan then a Kavan Smith fan. However, I have become more of a Kavan fan ever since I saw the very cute thank you video he did over at Gateworld (http://gateworld.net/fandom/conventions/vancouver2006/kavangetspersonal.shtml), so now I do try to catch his other material.

This is in contrast to David Hewlett: I love Rodney McKay and I am a major fan of David Hewlett as well. I will watch and read anything concerning him that I can get my hands on.

The thank you video sold me on the actor, too! Lorne was on my radar since the first time I saw Runner. After the video, I started looking around for other stuff he'd done. What I'm discovering is that while I don't become enamoured of every character he's played, I do like watching him act and I do like most of them.

I am actually not a huge David Hewlett fan - but I love watching him play McKay, even though I don't like the character of McKay, Hewlett plays him amazingly.

It was Lorne first, definitely. But then I watched The 4400 and squee'd like mad over Kavan so since then I'll try and get my hands on anything he's done too. The adorably cute thank you message to fans he did didn't hurt either! ;)

I love Agent Garrity!! Even when he's only on for five mninutes, I squeeee like the mad fangirrly that I am!!

I love the thank you message. It was a wonderful gesture on his part and he seems so genuinely taken aback by the fan support.
