Summary: Camping is fun!
Prompt: October 13th challenge for [livejournal.com profile] slashing_lorne It’s a double challenge. I managed to work them both in. Shiny!

Calvin poked at the fire eagerly. The chill was settling around the campsite and the sun had barely set. October was a brisk time of year in Colorado. He couldn’t believe he was able to sneak back to Earth for an extended weekend with Nick. He was even more shocked when Nick suggested they camp at a small campground near Colorado Springs. It was a beautiful place. A crystal lake, nice facility, it was perfect.

Nick walked out of tent smiling to Calvin who was turning his roasting fork. A plump marshmallow was meeting its demise at the end of it. Nick laughed, “Think its black enough?”

Calvin shook his head. “Nope.”

Nick looked to the sky at the sparkling stars. “I’m glad you came out here with me. I didn’t think you would after I told you the name of the campsite.”

“I thought you were joking,” Calvin replied shuddering unconsciously. “Who the hell names a campground Crystal Lake? That can’t be good for business.”

“You’d be surprised,” Nick said “Some people think it’s funny.”

“Ha Ha.” Calvin retorted. “I’ve never seen the movies, but I know enough that it’s weird.”

“You’ve never seen Friday the 13th?” Nick asked.

Calvin rolled his eyes. “No, Mystery Science Theatre is more my speed.”

Nick laughed. “Of all days, we should be watching it.”

“Oh, yes. Let’s watch the creepy ass movie, while camping in the same camp ground on Friday the 13th. That’s genius!”

Nick chortled. “You’re not scared are you?”

“No.”

Nick grinned looking to the black water. “I’m going for a swim. Wanna come?”

“Are you crazy? It’s gotta be freezing.”

“I doubt that. It’s still plenty warm in the day to keep it at a decent temperature.”

“Be my guest. Just don’t expect me to warm you up when you turn into an ice cube.”

Nick stood pulled his shirt over his head, kicked off his shoes and pulled down his pants, boxers in tow. “I thought you liked warming my parts,” He winked. Not waiting for a reply he ran to the water. Dipping a toe in tentatively his reflexes kicked in and he jerked it back, took a breath he ran into the drink head first with an easy dive.

Calvin watched him glide into the water with grace. Show off, he thought.

Nick surfaced a moment later with a loud refreshed gasp. “Come on, Calvin! It’s not that bad.”

“Pass thanks! Marshmallows are calling!”

He could hear Nick chuckle, and then gasp with shock. A loud noise in the water brought Calvin’s attention around. Nick was bobbing harshly as though an invisible force was attempting to pull him down. His head disappeared beneath the surface then a moment later came back. “Nick?” he called.

“Help!” Nick exclaimed his voice pitched, nervous.

Calvin went to the waters edge as Nick thrashed at the water. He disappeared again under the water. “NICK!” he yelled again. Silence only answered.

Shit! He kicked his shoes off quickly pulling his long sleeved flannel off in one swift movement he was running into the water anxiously calling Nick’s name. He swam to the spot he last saw him. Batting at the ripples looking for any sign of the airman.

“Gotcha,” A voice said from behind him.

Calvin turned into the eyes of the grinning Nick. “You Ass!” he said with anger and relief.

Nick started laughing. “How else was I going to get you in here?”

Calvin snorted. “It’s not funny!” Then looked at his bare chest and groaned. He still had on his jeans.

Nick swam closer. “I didn’t think you would still be clothed though.”

Calvin glared at him. “Oh, geez. I think attempting to save your life took precedent over my jeans.”

Nick pulled him closer to reward him with a kiss. “What would I do without you, my hero.”

Calvin ribbed him after pulling away. “At least I should get some kind of recognition. Ruined a perfectly good marshmallow,” he muttered.

Nick laughed loudly. “I’m sure I can think of something. First let’s get you out of those wet clothes.”

Calvin laughed as Nick hooked a finger into his jeans and they descended below the glassy lake façade.

The End.

I don't know whether my first reaction should be 'awwww' or 'heee', so I shall go for both! I loved this! So much fun, with the teasing but sooo sweet, with Kav getting all worried about his Nick. *sighs happily*
